I just had the most brilliant time at the Way Out West-festival in Gothenburg. Saw many fantastic concerts, photographed a few, and enjoyed the atmosphere immensely! Here’s a mash-up of some pictures – I’ll make a few individual posts with more photo’s for a few of the shows, but it’ll have to be further into the coming week. Enjoy!
The National, Way Out West
Iggy Pop & The Stooges, Way Out West

Being front row for Iggy Pop was quite the experience! Especially when he suddenly invited people to come up on stage. Several kids around me hurried to climb over the rail and get on stage and most of them got to sing a bit with Iggy. It was great to see how thrilled they were, although it was less of a thrill to suddenly have the masses smashed up against me even tighter thinking they too would get to climb over. More fuel to the fire was added when Iggy came down the stairs and sang in front of us for a while. Yup, I touched Iggy Pop, haha (or the other way around, I suppose)! Fun show, with “I wanna be your dog” as the highpoint.
M.I.A.!

Crazy-good show! It was just as fantastic, noisy, uneven and HARD as expected. I’m probably biased – Maya half-climbed into our front row and sang and grabbed hands and danced, oh, 2 ft from me? I’m still giddy!
The Radio Dept.

Askars! Hahaha

(Ran into Eric Northman at The Radio Dept. show – hee!)
Håkan Hellström

Best Damn Show Ever. (Well, except Nick Cave at Where the action is 2009) Håkan performed his debut-album song by song since it’s turning 10 years old this year. I haven’t seen a solo-show of his since that tour, so getting to see him do this album again after a decade and doing it in his hometown with 25,000+ people there.. incredible.
And I TOTES got to hold his haaaaand! And there’s practically proof of it, too – this photo made it into GT (newspaper) today and that’s Håkan standing in front of me as he’s singing to the crowd and his hand is juuuuust about to grab my hand. HEHE! Seriously – best moment ever. Tack Håkan för 10 fina år!!
